Michael J. McAdams has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who’s Who Biographical Registry

ARLINGTON, VA, December 4, 2023, Michael J. McAdams has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leveraging more than four decades of excellence working on transportation fuels, with a focus on renewable fuels the last twenty years, Mr. McAdams has earned distinction as President of the Advanced Biofuels Association which he founded in 2007.  Prior to his becoming President of the Association, Mr. McAdams spent 15 years focusing on fuels and environmental performance reduction with British Petroleum where he was part of a team which created the first of its kind carbon reduction program for an international major integrated oil company in 1995 and 1996.  He further went on to be actively involved with US EPA’s effort to remove sulfur from both gasoline and diesel as well as being one of four who negotiated the first New Source Review settlement under the Clean Air Act in 1999.  The agreement was signed by then Administrator of EPA Carol Browner and well as Attorney General Janet Reno.

Mr. McAdams began his carrier on Capital Hill as a US House of Representatives page boy at the age of 15.  He went on to work for two members of Congress from Texas, Rep. Ray Roberts, and Rep. Ralph Hall as his Legislative Director.  Following his efforts on Capital Hill he spent several years working for the Fertilizer Institute before joining BP in 1988 for 15 years, where he was the Policy Advisor for then CEO, Lord John Browne.

Among his accomplishments, Mr. McAdams received the William C. Holmberg Award for Lifetime Achievement for contributions to the biofuels industry in 2023 from the Biofuels Digest.  In addition, he received the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative Award for Special Achievement in the low carbon jet fuels space.

To prepare for his journey, Mr. McAdams earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Virginia Tech in 1979.   He then attained a Juris Doctorate from the Washington College of Law at American University in 1990 and passed the Pennsylvania Bar.

He looks forward to teaching in some capacity at the intersection of energy and environmental policy at the college level.
