In the short term, the EPA has authority under the existing statute to make the changes necessary to achieve these goals. The removal of the bio-intermediates impediment, reviewing additional pathway submissions, allowing for additional feedstock apportionment provisions, and approval of supportive alternative test methods to consider conversion validation are all supportive under the existing law and would support appropriate flexibility to move this program forward enabling the expanded production and use of lower CI fuels.
